February Favorites

It’s hard to believe that we’re already beginning March of this year. But the start of a new month means discussing the items I’ve loved for the past one!

Each month I discover a love of new products or products that I’ve had and forgotten about.  February was a combination of both. Below are some things that I think every woman would benefit from having in her beauty arsenal. More in-depth reviews on some of the products are soon to follow.

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Foundation: First of all, I love the applicator. Its sponge tip is fuss-free and anti-bacterial so you don’t have to worry about washing it every day. In fact, you’re not supposed to. Even better. It’s a thin foundation so it provides a natural coverage, while still nicely evening out your skin tone. It dries to a semi-matte finish and with a little concealer, you’ve achieved gorgeous skin. I do recommend pairing this particular foundation with a primer, as it tends to settle in pores throughtout the day if you haven’t done so. My primer of choice is by Laura Mercier, highly recommend. This foundation is also packed with antioxidants like Goji Berry and has an SPF of 18. Bonus!

Beauty Blender– This has been a favorite of mine since I bought it in December. It makes foundation application effortless, and the end results flawless.  The sponge will run you $20, but the airbrushed finish it offers makes it worth every penny. If taken care of, it will last you quite awhile. What is so different about this sponge is its texture. When dampened, it takes on a bouncy quality that allows you to lightly yet effectively stipple foundation on your face, covering any and all imperfections.  Simply run the sponge under water, squeeze out the excess, and apply. It’s perfect for fast application on those mornings when you’ve hit the snooze button one too many times.

Urban Decay Naked 2 PaletteThis product really does deserve a post of its own. It has been another favorite of mine since I hoarded it for my collection, becoming a staple of nearly every eye look I’ve created in the month of February. The palette contains 12 full-size eyeshadows and a brush to apply them with.  The brush is fantastic and just adds to the portability of the product.

MAC Crème Cup This muted pink lipstick is perfect to toss in your makeup bag for on-the-go touch ups to add a fresh and girly touch to your look. I wear it both on its own and on top of a liner for more depth and definition. It’s a perfect flirty shade of pink that is office appropriate but still fun for a night out.

Redken Aerate 08– After towel drying my hair, I’ve been applying this product to my roots and blow drying with a round brush. It’s described as a “bodifying cream-mousse” which it truly is. The results are Bridget Bardot-esque without even touching a teasing comb.

House of Harlow necklace– Although it was a semi-recent purchase, this statement piece from Nicole Richie’s House of Harlow 1960 line quickly became one of the loves of my life.  It’s feminine yet edgy, and can be worn with many different looks. It adds something to each one of them.

What were your favorite products of February? Spread the wealth.
