A mini Oscar recap would not be complete without mentioning some of the stand-out men on the Red Carpet this year. We had everything from the breathtakingly traditional (pause to swoon over Clooney) and the politically bizarre (pause to gasp over The Dictator.) But in my opinion, the best-dressed man on The Carpet this year was Mr. Tom Hanks. His double-breasted Tom Ford tuxedo was cut beautifully and fit him like a glove.
A close second was George Clooney, who rarely disappoints. He opted for his usual elegant Giorgio Armani tux, and while some say he habitually plays it safe, I say you can never go wrong at a formal event wearing what you know looks good. In his case it’s the classic silhouette of a traditional black tuxedo. Bravo.
I wasn’t a huge fan of Jean Dujardin’s look and neither was my fashionably sensible father. Upon seeing him his reaction went something like, “Tux looks like a rental.” Enough said. However, he is undoubtedly dapper and I could listen to him speak all day long. And in the world of eyebrow grooming, he deserves a sonnet. For the men out there who would like to avoid looking like Brad Pitt, at least in terms of his shoulder-length lady hair, Jean’s coiffe is easily achieved. Celebrity hair stylist Louise Moon created his look using Leonor Greyl Haircare and Talika Skincare. After applying Leonor Greyl Mousse au Lotus Volumatrice from roots to tips, Louise quickly blew dry Jean’s hair. She then distributed a tiny amount of Leonor Greyl Huile de Palme throughout for added gloss. “This makes the hair look alive with a bit of shine and volume without overpowering him,” she explained. To complete the look Moon sprayed Leonor Greyl’s Laque Souple light hairspray.
To ensure Jean looked bright-eyed and ready for his big night, Louise applied Talika’s Eye Therapy Patches, which help to minimize dark circles and puffiness. After removing the patches, she ran the Talika Skin Retouch Eye Contour wand beneath both eyes for added rejuvenation. These products are not yet available in the U.S. but are rumored to be making their debut soon.
It was hard to say which sex was better looking at the Academy Awards this year, and in terms of prep and primp time I’d be willing to bet it’d be a close race. His & Hers sinks really come in handy for those Black tie events.
